Terry Kelly

Terry Kelly’s journey with horses began in 1982, pre-training horses for Noel Kelly and Ron Maund. By 1984, he had taken out his training license and began a successful career that spanned decades.

Growing up surrounded by ponies and inspired by his racehorse-owning grandparents, Terry developed a deep passion for the racing industry. Influenced by friends David Ley, a publican, and Reverend Father Michael Grady, a racing enthusiast, Terry transitioned into thoroughbred training. Before his training career, Terry worked as a dairy farmer and with Alcoa Australia, gaining diverse life experiences.

Terry’s love for the industry was reflected in his patient and optimistic approach to working with horses, tailoring his care and routines to meet each horse's unique needs.

Today, Terry has shifted his focus from training to racehorse agistment, leveraging his years of expertise and state-of-the-art facilities. Located at the picturesque Coghills Creek on the outskirts of Ballarat, the property provides a serene and nurturing environment for racehorses to rest, recover, and thrive.

With features like walk-in, walk-out boxes and spacious spelling paddocks, Terry’s property is designed to meet the needs of every horse in his care.

The team at Terry Kelly Agistment is committed to providing the same passion and dedication to horse welfare that defined Terry’s training career. Terry looks forward to welcoming agistment clients and continuing his lifelong commitment to the equine industry.
